Cycling The Most Beautiful Climb: The Col d'Aubisque
Riding your bike in the Pyrenees is a special event, no matter when you do it. However, if you have a beautiful, sunny day, it only adds to the experience. Sure, there is something epic about riding the Tourmalet when it’s cloaked in fog, but there is something to be said for taking in the stunning views once you summit. If you could craft the perfect weather day for riding in the Pyrenees, it would be a combination of fog and mist while climbing up the steep banks and then have the skies clear to that perfect shade of blue, lighting up the craggy peaks, just as you reach the top.
This past week we had such a day while climbing the Col du Soulor and the Col d’Aubisque: a pleasantly cool morning with perfectly clear blue skies on the climbs. The Col d’Aubisque is perhaps one of the most picturesque climbs, but on a day like this it is arguably the most beautiful of all.
